Capacity: This rack will hold more than most vehicles can handle. I estimate it would hold over half a ton, not that you should drive around with half a ton of stuff on your rig...but it does give you an idea of the strength of this rack. For sane people, it's exactly wide enough to carry five, five-gallon gas or water cans, placed widthwise. The area and strength of the basket is more than adequate for lumber, plywood, surfboards, camping gear, trips to Baja and beyond...
